As the name suggests these cars are completely built up as a whole somewhere in the world and imported into the counties(i.e)The cars are imported as completely operatable in the road. Due to the taxes the cost of these cars were higher compared to CKD.

(For example Polo GTI in india is the CBU as it was completely assembled in Germany and imported to india as a whole car.)

In ckd the parts of the car is manufactured in the homeplant or home country of that brand and assembled in the locality where it is to be sold.

The company or brand decides about CKD or CBU according to the units sold in the country.
