OVERVIEW OF TESLA EV BATTERY
The Engineers of Tesla, Inc. The American based EV manufacturing company had used their wide minds by implementing battery management system to make this batteries more efficient and reliable in powering their vehicles.
The tesla cell is simply a lithium ion cell which consists of several chemical compounds for its function. One of the main compound is lithium which has the higher tendency to lose electrons. It works on the interesting principle called electrochemical potential which is the tendency of the metal to lose electrons.
STRUCTURE OF TESLA CELL
In the practical lithium-ion cell or in tesla cell, the graphite and metal oxides are coated on to copper and aluminium foils, These foils acts as a current collectors here, where the positive(aluminium) and negative(copper) tabs can be easily taken out from these. The organic salt of lithium which acts as the electrolyte is coated on the separator(which prevents short circuit in case if the electrolyte is degraded). All these three sheets are wound on to a cylinder around a central steel core to make a cell structure. These cells are packed in series or parallel fashion to form a module and 16 such modules are connected in series to form a tesla battery pack. The single tesla cell has a voltage range between 3-4V.
REPRESENTATION OF TESLA BATTERY PACK
During operation these batteries produces heat which is cooled by a provided glycol cooling system. The battery management system maintains the temperature and ensures the equal charging and discharging of individual cells.
Hoping so the browsers got some knowledge about the overview of tesla battery system. If you like my blog keep supporting. Do mention if I had committed any mistakes, Thanking you.
